A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, has remanded one Isaac Ojo for allegedly killing a trader, Mrs. Lydia Ayeni, on her farm in Ipe Akoko, in the Akoko South-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Reports say that Mrs. Lydia Ayeni, was allegedly raped and killed in the farm by the suspect on February 28, 2018 when the incident happened.
Mrs. Lydia had gone to work on her farm that morning. When she did not return home by afternoon, A team was organized to go in search of her.
The search team later found her corpse in the following day adding that there were signs that she was raped.
The police prosecutor, Mr. Martins Olowofeso, said the accused hit the 45-year-old woman with a stone in the head which resulted to her death. Mr. Martins added that the offence committed by Mr. Isaac Ojo is punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.
