Human Rights Lawyer opposes presidency’s action of deploying armed forces to Abia State

Human rights Lawyer Femi Falana

Human rights Lawyer Femi Falana has opposed the dispatching of military men by the federal government to calm riots in Abia State.

Human rights Lawyer Femi Falana maintained that though the President is justified under the constitution to deploy armed forces to suppress any uprising against the government but can only do so when the situation can no longer be contained by the police.

However, he says since there was no uprising in Abia State which the Nigeria Police Force cannot contain, the deployment of armed troops by the President cannot be justified in law.
