Health workers to embark on indefinite strike on September 20th

The Joint Health Union has asked its members to embark on an indefinite strike starting from September 20th if the federal government refuses to meet its demands.

The National Chairman of the union, Biobelemoye Joy-Josiah, has during a press conference in Abuja said that the strike which is code-named, Operation Alligator Bite, is likely to be thorough.

The Joint Health Union workers complained that the federal government is biased when treating issues in the health sector with preferential treatment meted out to doctors.

Their demands include; adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, abolition of the payment of outstanding arrears of promotion; autonomy for teaching and specialist hospitals in the country; and the review of retirement age from 60 to 65 years.
